WHO IS TARA?

Tara is a 3 year old girl from Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. She is a prodigy, a wonderful singer, orator and has an IQ of 140 +.
She wears her hair in trademark pigtails and a little bindi on the forehead completes her attire.
Tara is who she is because she got the right nutrition, stimulation, nurturing care and family love that gave her the best start in life. Having loving parents who encouraged her to explore the world and provided her with plenty of opportunities to learn, she is very confident and cheerful. Her nutrition and health were also very well looked after because of which she is in excellent form. Being such a happy and playful child, she is friends with many and attracts a lot of attention from nearby villages. She is looked upon as an aspirational child for new parents and soon to be parents.

AND WHO IS AABHA TAI?
Aabha Tai is the Anganwadi Tai of the local Anganwadi Centre in Yavatmal. A gentle and loving woman, she’s extremely passionate about her work. She is well aware of the difference it can make, the transformation it can bring about in the children’s lives. She guides parents and caregivers and provides support on all topics of childcare such as breastfeeding, complimentary feeding as well as importance of play. She has a special bond with Tara and her parents.

In fact, she is the not-so-secret reason behind Tara’s genius. Tara’s parents, Jayant & Reshma followed everything their Anganwadi Worker Aabha Tai told them to – including the principles of ECD. Now, they consider Aabha Tai as a family friend who visits them often.
Tara’s wit and growing popularity has helped Aabha Tai in tackling some of the most sensitive and difficult subjects in the community.
The stories of Tara are based on real experiences and interventions from the field by thousands of anganwadi workers across the state of Maharashtra
